Another New Student Apartment Development Proposed for Tuscaloosa, Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- A Tampa, Fla.-based development group wants to build a 205-unit, 646-bed student-oriented apartment complex at the intersection of Hargrove Road and Second Avenue East, according to areport by the Tuscaloosa News.
Representatives from the 908 Development Group will meet with residents at 5:15 p.m. in the City Council chambers before the council votes tonight on rezoning the land for the proposed site of The Standards of Tuscaloosa apartments.
According to the 908 website, the company is also planning to build a similar complex in Fayetteville, Ark., where the University of Arkansas is located.
"The construction of The Standard at Tuscaloosa will contribute to the underserved off-campus housing for the University of Alabama student population," the 908 website said.
The proposed complex will be located near the Forest Lake neighborhood, which was heavily damaged by the April 27 tornado.
